In 1998, decorated police officer Sgt. George Daniels was fired for wearing a small cross pin on his uniform. In August 2001, The Rutherford Institute appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Daniels’ behalf, asking the Justices to uphold his First Amendment right to express his religious beliefs.
