Woody Guthrie: Voice of the Working Man

Subject: Woody Guthrie: Voice of the Working Man

Thank you so much for this tribute to Woody Guthrie. He was the voice of Reality and truly was the working man's friend. He just told it as it was and I believe he would be terribly disappointed in our country today as Bob Dylan's words so simply put it. I have sent this to all of my friends and have encouraged them to subscribe to your wonderful Website. Thank you again for your great work.

Christmas

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

To Whom It May Concern,

I am appalled by the attempts of misguided organizations to ban Christmas on the grounds that it may be "offensive" to people of other cultures or religions. We can no longer have Christmas trees in the workplace, cannot say "Merry Christmas" or sing Christmas carols in schools, the list goes on.

Imagine if an organization tried to stop Jews celebrating Hanukah, or Muslims celebrating Ramadan? There would be a massive outcry on the grounds of religious intolerance and persecution.

Yet, Christians are told that they cannot celebrate Christmas.

This so called "political correctness" has reached a point of madness. It is time that the government or the courts stepped in to clarify this situation.

Christian Freedoms

Dear Sir,

We'd like to comment to the lady who was upset about the Happy Birthday Jesus cake. From what we remember learning in school 40+ years ago was that it was Freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion and our founding fathers built our nations constitution and laws based from a Biblical view not a secular world point of view. We feel that our nation has decided to hide it's head because of the shame it feels over it's sinful choices in life- you know the "Maybe if we stick our head into a lot of gibberish called separation of state and church" then it will be okay. Let's call a spade a spade and a sin a sin folks. Stop hiding in the rocks, cliffs, and caves God can still see you and knows your hearts and sins. Reconcile yourselves with God before it's too late. God Bless the confused so they will see the light.

Happy Birthday Jesus cake

Subject: Christians protest actions that play down Christmas' religious nature

I'm sure you normally recieve supportive e-mails for your work, as I imagine mostly people who support your cause visit your site. But this morning I read about how your group supported a woman who sent a cake to her first graders class with "Happy Birthday Jesus" inscribed in red icing. Personally I feel she is lucky that the other 20 parents in the class agreed with her; if that had been my daughter's class, I would have felt that the woman was taking an illegal and very intentional stab at the children in the class who do not consider themselves Christians. I consider Merry Christmas to be fine, and take offense to very little in life, but I believe fully in the separation of Church and State. Unless the school is private and considered Christian, religion should be left at home unless it is discussed from an objective point of view, unbiased and including evolution and at least the other large religions giving no preference to one over another ( shy that evolution belongs in the Science class as it is made up of facts).

Anyway, if your group continues to give advice similar to what you gave this woman, I doubt it will be long before someone is personally offended by their actions, and that persons beliefs are also protected by the Constitution. I feel that in this case, the woman with the cake would have lost that lawsuit as she is trying to impose her beliefs on others in a place that is legally sheltered from this sort of thing.

how many "commandments"?

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

it should be the right of everyone to worship and celebrate however they choose. having grown up in a christian country i personally share the predominant desire to celebrate christmas, which for me represents a time of acceptance and renewal. merry christmas to you and all. i wish 2005 to be a year of sane reflection and awakening-unlike the sad state of the world for this year.

i do however take exception to your disingenuous claim to support "civil rights". the posting of the 10 commandments in government facilities is precisely what the founding fathers intended to avoid. just read what franklin, or washington or jefferson had to say. they were "god fearing" - but they specifically abhored the inducement of allegiance to anyone - mortal or otherwise.

if you insist on posting religious "commandments" then you'd be much better off with the dhammapada. it is far more practical and acceptable to people of many faiths.

sincerely,
max

My place of employment and Christmas

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

I work at Oakland Schools in Waterford Michigan. This was in our weekly e-memo. Many of us are very upset about this. How can this come from a group of people who call themselves the Diversity Committee? I wrote a response to this but it was deleted. Even my sons elementary school has a "gift giving tree". Funny, it looks just like our Christmas tree at home. We no longer have a Christmas break, it's now a holiday break. In the memo it states we can put up decorations in our own cubicles just not in public. This is a public building, all of it, every square foot is public. Paid for by tax dollars. I was not aware that there are places in this building that are not public until this came out. The superintendent is afraid the public will be upset if they see Christmas decorations paid for by tax dollars being displayed in this public building. She's afraid the Oakland Press, a VERY liberal local newspaper, will attack us again. The moral in this place sucks! They call it the cultural climate. When will it all end?

Subject: Seal quietly changed in county hall

Dear Staff,

Thank you for your article about the LA City seal being "revised" according to those who choose to be offended by every small detail. I live in Redlands, CA, which is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles and our city is also being sued by the ACLU for having a cross on the city seal. For more information, if you're interested, you may read more about it here:

12 Rules of Christmas

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

The schools have taken on an advocate's role of protecting children from hearing about religions different from their own. But who is protecting the rights of children who will benefit from hearing about others' religions?

School districts are protecting themselves from lawsuits. That's where changes need to be made. Let's hope the direction of lawsuits changes in favor of free speech and that the school districts take note.

Something to think about

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

Why is it that so many people dont believe in Jesus, yet they celebrate his birth, they are against anything that makes any reference whatsoever to christ at CHRISTmas time. Yet they continue to celebrate a predominantly christian HOLYday. We realise that Christ was not born on Dec 25. However it was a day deemed by the church to celebrate it. It seems that the anti-CHRISTmas thing is growing. So perhaps those who dont view it as a religious holiday should have to work, since they are so adamantly against manger scenes, crosses, or any mention of CHRISTmas. It has become so bad that people have been fired for saying "Merry Christmas". Why should we have to turn our HOLYday into something pagan to fit with the unbelievers. The real meaning of christmas has been hijacked by santas, elves, and the god of materialism. The saddest part of all, there are far too many "christians" who have deemed santa as "cute". Christmas has become a joke. Let christianity be christianity and pagansim be paganism. The two are oil and water. Those who dont believe dont need a holiday. They can go to work, why should we alter our beliefs for heathens. CHRISTmas is for celebrating CHRIST, not trees, not stuff, not santas, elves or any other demonic entity. How dare they take Christ out of Christmas. How about this, perhaps Christian groups should get together, and change halloween, make a big fuss about how we're offended, force governments to take down pumpkins, black cats, lets make it virtually illegal to say happy halloween, better yet lets make certain costumes offensive and politically incorrect. Why is it okay to harrass us and destroy something important to us, but if we did the same to heathens there would be hell to pay. I say no days off for the heathens.!!!! Give back CHRISTmas!!!!

Outstanding article, Ticking Time Bomb

Subject: A Ticking Time Bomb: Diseases that Cross American Borders

Frosty Wooldridge, author of Immigration's Unarmed Invasion, Deadly Consequences was clear and concise regarding diseases imported by illegal aliens. I have spent over 30 years with the United States Border Patrol as Agent, Intelligence Officer, Bortac Medic, Sector Aircraft Pilot to Criminal Investigator. As law enforcement agents, prior to a politically correct era, we checked the immigration status of employees at Restaurants to food processing plants and manufacturing industries. The amount of people infected with contagious diseases who crossed our borders in violation of 8 USC has been a fact of life since 1972.

On numerous immigration checks at meat processing plants in Texas, illegal aliens were found with active T.B. to hepatitis. The State Health Department often closed down the plants until sanitary conditions were assured. The same problems were found in restaurants employing illegal aliens of any nationality. Chinese nationals who were brought into this nation by sea were always a health hazard, scabies to other problems which should exclude them from any food preparation. In many nations, washing the hands after using the toilet is never done. For people preparing food, dirty hands infected with fecal material is transferred directly on salads to the entrees. We have found illegals with "running open sores" mixing sausage products to blood contamination from open cuts. The list could on to people arrested with serious sexually transmitted diseases which under Immigration Law would make them excludable at entry.

If the majority of the people in the United States who enjoy dining could see the kitchens, bathrooms, and employees in food preparation now with no interior enforcement by Immigration Investigators, they might pass up the meal. Health Inspectors are a momentary distraction and few and far between in most large municipalities. In Arizona, a hub for human trafficking with millions of illegal aliens crossing yearly, politically condoned for cheap labor and votes are factions of society, Special Interest Aliens from Terrorist nations who are not here to make a salad, work agriculture or process meats.

12 Rules of Christmas

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

I happened upon your site by accident after reading an article about the 12 Rules of Christmas. I am glad to see there are people out there willing to take a stand for Christian values and take on the Morons at the ACLU.

Merry CHRISTMAS and GOD bless.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

Civil Liberties and human rights are what you claim to work toward...are you guys nuts! Mr. Whitehead recently said that..."It's supposed to be a time of, what, peace and freedom and fun." in regards to Christmas. Do you know why it is not fun or peaceful or free?...because of groups like yours.

When stores and businesss and God forbid the government use the term Merry Christmas you guys are happy because it supports YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS! What about Jewish people or Africans who celebrate Kwanzaa or people like myself that do not have a religious affliliation but would like to enjoy the holidays. If I've said it once I've said it a million times...NOT EVERYONE IS CHRISTIAN!

I think it would be a PEACEFUL, FUN and especially FREE time of year if you guys would quit complaining and realize that a phrase such as Happy Holidays encompasses EVERYONE'S needs and then we are ALL happy. Celebrate the season however you want...I respect that. Now, it's time that you start respecting your fellow Americans and their beliefs!

Thank you and have a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON! Now doesn't that sound nice?

comment on your WND article

Subject: A Ticking Time Bomb: Diseases that Cross American Borders

Great article in WND on illegal immigration. But have you ever wondered why Bush or Clinton for that matter and their administrations have never taken the problem seriously? In fact, they have purposefully and deliberately continued the policies to attract illegal immigrants and weakened the boarder patrols authority at the sometime.

The answer is simply this. For each new baby born in the USA, The Federal Reserve Bank (A privately owned entity) on behalf of the U.S. receives 1.6 million dollars credit (per SS# issued) at the World Bank to continue all the deficit spending and receive enough credit by way of human collateral to continue the process.

No one is talking about this, you probably do not believe this, but it is true. Check it out. Then write a story that will get some attention.

Sincerely,

John Vnuk

A Ticking Time Bomb

Subject: A Ticking Time Bomb: Diseases that Cross American Borders

Mr Whitehead,

Sir, a great article and a very good point. But the infrastructure for the management of social disease as it was in the 1950's is no longer a viable model. It has been taken apart because of AIDs. It was determined that individual privacy was more important than social responsibility. Even as a member of that same society.

You are of the age that you most likely remember that someone diagnosed with a "social disease" gave up his list of "personal contacts" and state social and medical workers arranged care to protect others in the community.

What's actually happened is a shift in how society views itself as a hole. It's more "me for me" and "me against you" than "we are all Americans" working for a safe and healthy future. Face it, we've lost that lovin' feelin'.

Immigration woes

Subject: A Ticking Time Bomb: Diseases that Cross American Borders

Dear Sir,

I share your concern about the federal government's failure to perform its proper functions like border security.

In the Federalist papers, it is stated that when governments are burdened with too many improper functions, they cannot perform their proper functions. This is the crux of our problem today and the real reason why 9-11 happened and the reason why nothing will happen at the border.

I don't hold much hope that the electorate will demand a reduction in the scope of improper government functions. People like their free retirement, free medicine, free drugs, free schooling, free money, free housing, and free food. Why, that is what freedom really is to most people today.

If one were to remove all the benefits of the welfare state, the root of many conflicts over immigration issues would distill to far more important issues like a simple health screening to find communicable diseases. If illegals can afford to pay thousands to coyotes to smuggle them in, they surely would pay the same for a simple health check to come in legally.

We have become the society where everybody tries to loot everybody.

12 rules of Christmas

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

I enjoyed Bill O'Reilly's show that led me to this site. I have been a public school educator since 1978 and a born again Christian. How beautiful to hear that Christians can teach about the Christmas Story in a historical context. However, I am from the Mid-west and we are conservative. The schools where I've been employed have had Christmas trees and all the trimmings with no problems. So thankful that I can contradict all those who are saying we cannot. Thank you bunches.

God Bless America?

Subject: The Twelve Rules of Christmas

Isnt it odd that everytime I hear the news and/or read the newspaper, someone is trying to eliminate God from some aspect of the American lifestyle? But during the 9/11 crisis, what was it that we all heard loud and clear being sung and said from every stadium and mountaintop? God Bless America! That's what. The problem is that God isnt listening when we only cry out to him in a crisis. He wants our good times..our quiet times and our crisis. He wants us to live for him every day.

Our Constitutional rights

And who is protecting us from the judges? I have the power of the vote to control lawmakers, where do I get my right to control my judges? "If we fail to check the power of the judiciary, I predict that we will eventually live under judicial tyranny." Patrick Henry

Thanksgiving Prayer

I am descended from Elder William Brewster who was the religious leader on the Mayflower and by golly I take umbrage with some educators eliminating the fact that these were deeply religious, God fearing people. It was religious persecution that drove them to set forth in the first place. They weren't happy with the direction the churches in Europe were taking and operated clandestine printing presses to let it be known.

Best regards,
