| Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Job Well Done --Jennifer W. Thursday, December 06, 2007 Foolish Dear Mr. Whitehead: You said that "we must never forget that the nature of politics being compromise, no matter what a politician says, everything a politician does is political. And very few politicians are non-political. Thus, there can be no such thing as a Christian candidate for office... In the end, they are all politicians." With all due respect, I must disagree. As a Christian about to become a lawyer, I am NOT either a lawyer or a Christian; I am a Christian lawyer. Period. To attempt to divorce my profession from my core beliefs would be foolish. To require the same of the leader of the free world would be even more foolish. The Framers CONSTANTLY invoked their faith in their public proclamations and in everyday decision-making; they asked the public to pray for them and they regularly spoke of the need for a God-fearing citizenry. Religion has much MORE than "a part to play in the national dialogue about our freedoms." Our nation was founded on Christian principles and our goal was to be the shining city on a hill. But how can we be this proverbial city when Christians are made to privatize our faith? How can we be expected to speak Truth to power when those in power deny the Truth? What's more, they even deny our God-given right to speak such truth. Should religious adherence be the only consideration for public office? Of course not. You're right; character counts and so do moral values. What we REALLY need in the White House is a humble leader who will fall to his knees and seek God's guidance in times of crisis. We need someone who knows WHO he is and WHAT he believes, someone whose views will not "evolve" in accordance with the vacillating political winds. Yes, it is important that he honor the Constitution, but it is MORE important that he honor the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. Respectfully, Daniel B. Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Horror Stories Sorry to hear that you all believe that is the case. All captives are run thru a series of checks to see if they are a threat or how much of a threat. If we just simply took and paid money for everybody that was handed over to us, you'd soon have the people of these countries fighting to turn in their neighbors. Please everyone, use your heads, we do not have the resources to lock up anyone we feel like! I think I may know a little more than you all who have never been to Iraq or Afganistan. I have faith that yes, we are making sure that "The‘Enemy Combatants’ Are Really the Enemy." I have found many over here very grateful to us and have heard horror stories both here and in Iraq. Are you for us, or the muslim terrorist?? Your alls friend in Christ, Rick M, US Army Bagram / Kabul, Afganistan Tuesday, December 04, 2007 Total Corruption Bush and his fascists are traitors to America and the American form of Government. They represent tyranny in it's purest form from the "NEW WORLD ORDER" but the other traitors in the government do not stop these tyrants as the Constitution requires--Washington is the city of total corruption and betrayal of the American system. --DC Big Time I hope this case turns out to protect innocent persons. I am with you on that one, big time. --Bill N. Evidence Well argued, but, in this high-tech dangerous world, we do need to balance in the security of our people. But certainly, if true, merely buying captives from "bounty hunters" without other evidence, would be wrong. --John M. |
